The wedding cake originated in Ancient Rome. Back then, a scone-like wheat or barley cake was broken over the bride’s head for good luck and fertility. That meaning hasn’t changed much over the centuries, but cake has. We all know the wedding cake as a fluffy, sweet tour of goodness. Sometimes they’re extravagantly decorated, and sometimes they’re simple “naked” cakes. Though the designs and flavors may differ, wedding desserts have largely stayed the same. Until now… Couples everywhere are raising the dessert game to new heights. We’ve asked our team of fantastic planners to share what they’ve seen in recent years. Here are some of our favorite wedding dessert ideas:
Get Frothy (@getfrothyatl)
Is there anything better than coffee? Maybe gelato… Or maybe cocktails… No, pastries! Wondering how you’re supposed to decide? We have great news. You don’t have to! A 1974 Piaggio Ape named Bean is home to the coolest catering company ever! Frothy Coffee + Goods serves locally sourced coffee, gelato, and pastries, as well as bubbly and cocktails. Whatever your heart desires, Bean can deliver. And if this cute truck isn’t doing it for you, try Bean’s sister, Fizzy! (@getfizzyatl)
Tex’s Tacos (@texstacos)

We know what you’re thinking. What does a taco truck have to do with desserts? Well, friends, ever heard of a little thing called churros? Oh, yes! Tex has some of the best churros around. The famous (in our minds) food truck has been to our sister venue, The Corner District, many times, so we’re speaking from experience.
Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Bar (@benandjerrys)
Picture a summer wedding. You’ve tied the knot, or watched your loved ones tie the knot, you’ve had a fantastic dinner, and now you’re dancing the night away. Nothing could make this night any better. But wait! What’s that? It’s a Ben and Jerry’s ice cream bar! The little kid in you just sprung to attention, didn’t it? Go on. Get that triple scoop of Chunky Monkey. We won’t judge. In fact, we’ll probably join you!
Mini Dessert Bar

The great thing about this option is that most catering companies can put together a dessert table fit for a queen. Which you are. It is your wedding day after all! We love the mini dessert bar because guests can try several different desserts when they can’t decide on just one.
While we do have a sentimental attached to the traditional wedding cake, we’re so excited to see couples branching out. Sharing the love is always a good plan. Our favorite wedding dessert ideas could actually be a much longer list, because, let’s face it, we live for dessert. But for the purposes of this blog, we narrowed it down to just. If you want us to send you a complete list, hit this contact link. And while you’re at it, request a tour. We’d love to show you around, and we’re obviously super fun. Talk soon!
