Indie Singer Songwriter Cecilia Glenn

Indie singer songwriter Cecilia Glenn will be performing under the stars at The Lodge at Old Mill on October 16th. from 5:00-6:30 pm. Once described by Simon and Garfunkel as a “heartbreaker,” Cecilia Glenn cut her teeth in opera before settling into her trademark sultry, folksy tone. Her innate storytelling ability translates into poetic, lyrical lines capturing the wonder and wounds of human connection, rounded out by gentle, yet memorable melodies.

Cecilia Glenn has had an on again, off again relationship with songwriting. She began writing when she was less than 10 years old; it was her way of processing life. Initially hoping to study songwriting and move to Nashville, Glenn made a decided turn and ended up at Furman University where she studied classical vocal performance. She fell in love with classical music and songwriting was put on the backburner. Following Furman, she studied voice with a professor at Rice University with the intention of applying to a graduate program. But something stopped her — her truest passion, songwriting. Returning to an old love, she moved to Nashville to dip her toes in the music scene there. It didn’t last long. After exactly one year, she moved to Virginia, fully believing she would never pursue a career in music again. Four years later, in the midst of 2020, Glenn found herself returning yet again to what brings her relief, joy, and life — songwriting. She packed her bags, headed to Nashville, and is in the midst of releasing her first music. Her innate storytelling ability translates into poetic, lyrical lines capturing the wonder and wounds of human connection, rounded out by gentle, yet memorable melodies. Her first self-titled EP releases September 23rd.
